My name is Meg and I am the Catholic girl that wants to talk to you about Islam…
As an avid news junkie, I found myself pulling my hair out listening to the incorrect information about Islam continuously spread all over both national and local media outlets, as well as social media. As I recently graduated with my Master’s Degree, where my area of focus was Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies, I decided I was tired of hearing and reading all of the misinformation, and would instead try to combat it with the knowledge my education has provided me. I don’t expect this blog to catch on, but if I am able to help even one person come to understand anything about Islam, I will feel as though I have accomplished my goal.
As far as my educational background is concerned, I have a Bachelors Degree in Anthropology from Texas A&M University (Gig’em Aggies!) and a Masters Degree in Near Eastern and Judaic Studies from Brandeis University (Roll ‘Deis!). I am a born and raised Catholic and former CCD teacher with a love of religion, and a belief that I may be able to provide an interesting narrative for the individual that wants to learn some of the basics of Islam.
So, here I am… writing posts so that you can read about Islam from a non-Muslim perspective!
